Two deals in their final days, three new AI courses & why Coursera's big announcement isn't for you
|
Two sales worth knowing about, both on a clock. Three genuinely new AI engineering courses. And a Coursera announcement that made headlines but changes nothing about what you pay — I read the release so you don’t have to. One warning up front: the cheapest way into Coursera Plus is the plan with no discount on it at all. Section one explains. |
This week's pick · brought to you by Udacity
Udacity — project-reviewed Nanodegrees, and a sale that never quite ends
List price is $249 a month, or $212 if you prepay four months. Udacity's sale banner has run continuously through September — on 11 September it still read “final hours, offer ends today”, four days after an email said the same. Check the live price before judging the value.

Coursera Plus is $35 a month for three months, until 23 September
Coursera’s page shows $59 dropping to $35 for three consecutive months, then renewing at $59. Read the terms before you click: new subscribers only, one per person, and not available in India. Here’s the part they don’t headline — annual Coursera Plus is $399, which is $33.25 a month. The undiscounted yearly plan undercuts the 40%-off monthly one.

DataCamp's half-price year runs out at the end of 17 September
Still open, and this is its last day. Premium is $165 for the year against $330 — the 790-plus course library, career tracks and certifications. The countdown on their sale page expires at midnight Eastern. Their affiliate email advertised 24 September; the page has said otherwise on two reads a week apart, and the page is what charges you.

Educative launched an LLM course built around what breaks in production
AI Product Engineering: Ship Reliable LLM Features End-to-End is 3 hours, 21 lessons and 19 quizzes, worked on an AI support-ticket summarizer — scoping, prompts as contracts, evaluation sets, then hardening against misuse and quality drift. It’s the first of a series Educative is building around specific AI job titles.
|
|
Educative was also running a sitewide 50% banner when I checked, with no end date published on it — so treat the discount as “there when you look, or not”. |
|
And a second one for front-end engineers putting AI into React
AI for Frontend Engineers is 4 hours, 24 lessons and 22 quizzes, and its page read “Updated today” when I opened it on 11 September. It covers writing prompts that return UI-ready output, calling an AI service, and handling uncertainty, failure and untrusted output — the three things that make an AI feature embarrassing rather than useful.

Udacity is selling an accredited master's in AI — read the price footnote
Enrollment is $199 one-off plus an active Udacity subscription, which is explicitly required to apply. The headline “under $2,500” carries an asterisk: it assumes 27 hours a week. The program runs 18–24 months and about 2,250 study hours, and the degree is awarded by Woolf, a Malta-based institution, in ECTS credits — not by a US university.

Coursera previewed “Project Helix”. It isn't for you, and that's the story
Headlines said Coursera and Udemy are launching an AI-native platform. Coursera’s own release, dated 9 September, says Helix targets enterprise upskilling, is expected to be broadly available to enterprise customers in the first half of 2027, and will complement both current platforms as they keep shipping features. Nothing changes for an individual subscriber.

If it 403s for you, the consumer version of the story is ours: Coursera vs Udemy, after the merger. |
That’s the week. If a deal isn’t live when you click it, reply and tell me — I’d rather hear it from you than find out next month. Weighing the Udacity degree against a certificate? Reply with where you are and I’ll tell you what I’d do. |
